Description

Cork bark medium provides near-natural conditions for growing orchids. It lasts longer and disintegrates more slowly compared to other media like pine bark, coconut husk chips and sphagnum moss.

These are premium quality virgin cork bark chips imported from Portugal. Available in various grades to cater to the growth of different types of orchids, it can be classified into Large Grade and Fine Grade, depending on the size of the bark chips.

Large grade bark is popularly used by orchid hobbyists and caters to the needs of many types of orchids. It is ideal for growing orchids that require proper drainage and a good wet-dry cycle.

It provides adequate anchorage and dries quickly even in a large pot or container. It does not retain water and therefore minimizes the risk of rotting. It is often used along with bits of loosely packed sphagnum moss or a mi of coco chips and charcoal to provide a balance of moisture and air. You can use this for potting Cattleya, Dendrobium, and Vanda type of orchids,  whose roots require good aeration.

If you want a more moisture-retentive medium, you can use it in combination with Fine Grade Cork Bark Chips, You can mix and match and provide the right balance of air and moisture suited to your orchid’s requirement.

This premium cork bark lasts for 5 years or more if it is used correctly (allowing quick wet-dry cycles). This prevents it from disintegrating like other media. So it works long-term and saves the hassle of repotting frequently.

Note: Cork bark chips are lightweight and therefore sold by volume and not by weight.
